NPS Score Explanation

In the recreation and tourism sector, the bar for a “fair” or good Net Promoter Score (NPS) is relatively high, partly due to high expectations and emotional involvement in vacations. A fair and healthy NPS in this sector typically ranges between +30 and +50.

NPS Benchmarks Recreation & Tourism

  • Average (+20 to +40): A solid score where the majority are satisfied.

  • Good/Fair (+30 to +50): The industry standard for successful recreation businesses, campsites, and hotels.

  • Excellent (above +50): Exceptionally high customer loyalty and many promoters.

  • Top Segment (+60 to +80+): Vacation platforms and specialized tour operators often score very high.

If your recreation business achieves an NPS of +40, you are doing exceptionally well. It means you have substantially more promoters (fans) than detractors, which is essential in recreation for repeat visits and word-of-mouth referrals.

Note: NPS is not an average but the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors.
